Services
The clinic is licensed by the State of Illinois as a “ Pregnancy Termination Spec. Center,” certification #7002967.
We are inspected regularly and follow the guidelines in regards to your care. We also follow the National Abortion Guidelines. Our laboratory is also licensed by C.L.I.A., #14DO430121.
We are committed to providing you will all the information you need to make informed choices about birth control and how to prevent a pregnancy should you choose to in the future.
When requested we perform pregnancy termination’s from 6 weeks L.M.P. to 18 weeks L.M.P.

We have 2 procedures:

Surgical Abortion
This is a same day procedure, you will be at the clinic 5 hours or less. We use cervical dilation and suction curettage, or minor modification of this procedure if the pregnancy is farther along.
All procedures are done with a local anesthetic. Although additional medication and sedation can be given, we find that most patients do well with just the local itself.
Recovery is faster and no designated driver is needed. We do encourage you to bring a support person with you. You will have a staff nurse with you at all times during the procedure.

Medical Abortion
We are pleased to offer this procedure. The early option pill (the RU486) is not for every woman. It must be used within 56 days from the beginning of the last menstrual period to be effective. For more information visit www.earlyoptionpill.com
This procedure requires two visits to the clinic, you must return here for a check-up.
You will be inducing a miscarriage, so you will need to have someone available to help you should that become necessary.
Although major problems or complications are uncommon, some source of emergency care must be available. We ask that you be within 1 hour of this clinic or a hospital.
We have been doing procedures for 30 years, your concerns are taken seriously. We understand and we will provide all the physical and emotional support you need.
If at any time something concerns you, ask to speak to the director. She will address any concern you have immediately. We also have 24 hour call service. Your concerns will be addressed any time.
Post Abortion Counseling
Northern Illinois Women's Center is pleased to offer post-abortion counseling. We encourage you to call us to set up a time when you may speak with a counselor, either in person or over the phone.Times available are Wednesday and Friday, late morning or early afternoon. You are welcomed to offer a donation, however, it is not required.
Sometimes we get overwhelmed by our decisions. They may well be the right ones for us, but they may also produce some lingering feelings. It is important to address these feeling and resolve them.
